I could not paint the monthly paintings of the Skyscape Collection without painting our cadillac roads. A summer's road trip but particularly one in our backyard. Canola fields featured on both sides just outside of Islay, Alberta and a dramatic sky on the horizon.
 
Called Foundation in reference to many aspects from the foundation farmers need for successful crops to the foundations required by the many engineers and workers that go into building our roads. While on the surface it is a joyful summers drive, deeper down it is a representation of how many things in our life are connected and life is incredibly nuanced and beautifully grey.
