Mont Blanc I & II were part of the Creating Beauty exhibition and were painted from photographs of when I was studying in Grenoble, France, in 2022. I wanted to capture the feeling that I felt at the top of the Aiguille du Midi, the Chamonix Cable Car. Chilled air, but not uncomfortable with clouds moving fast among the mountain peaks. Centering, mesmerizing, peaceful, and inspiring a sense of awe and beauty of the natural surroundings. Each painting stands alone or works as a diptych with the two pieces talking to each other. The left has rocks painted with several layers to build the texture, and on the right, the stones are painted with inspiration from Chinese ink paintings, inspired by my major in the History of Art, Design, and Visual Culture.
